Depression is a disorder that affects a person in various degrees. It could be intermittent periods of having intense negative feelings followed by normal emotions or a mild sense of negativity for an extended period of time. Clinical depression is when the negative feelings are considered a medical disorder which requires treatment. It is sometimes called major depressive disorder.

There are numerous clinical depression symptoms that can affect day to day task as well as your overall well-being. Symptoms of clinical depression include malaise or an overall feeling that you’re unwell, being tired persistently for the good part of the day, hypersomnia or insomnia as well as having negative thoughts continuously as the day progresses.

Clinical depression symptoms in men can also sometimes garner episodes of aggression and lack of self-control while it usually causes the opposite effect. Clinical depression symptoms in women are commonly seen after the birth of a baby. It is also common in menopausal women. Clinical depression symptoms in teenagers tend to occur a few years after puberty once maturity has set in and peer pressure and other social factors are most imminent.

The disorder can last for a varied period of time. For some, it may only be a brief period that lasts for a couple of days every once in a while, for others it could be seasonal occurring in certain periods such as the winter months. In the worst case scenario it can be persistently affecting a person for a long period of time. Clinical depression symptoms that last this long can be dangerous as it can worsen the condition and result in the signs becoming more severe and can eventually lead to becoming suicidal. There are a few simple rules to follow to prevent the condition from worsening. Firstly, socializing and being around people will get your mind off. Additionally, always being equipped with a task can also greatly prevent unwanted episodes of the symptoms.

Sleep is one of the most important factors when it comes to the disorder. Lack of sleep as well as oversleeping has both been related to the condition. This confirms that the amount and quality of your sleep is very important when combatting depression. You should sleep between 7-9 hours every day. Clinical depression symptoms can also be alleviated by unconventional practices such as yoga or meditation. If standard treatments are ineffective, unorthodox methods are certainly worth a shot to get rid of clinical depression symptoms.
